CMDA To Boycott Vendors Not Supplying Octroi-Paid Material From August 1

In an ultimatum, the reseller association CMDA has said that it will boycott all those vendors who are still not supplying Octroi-paid material in Pune starting August 1, 2010. CMDA is also working with other channel associations in Maharashtra—VCMDWA in Nagpur and TAIT in Mumbai—to ensure that all vendors comply with their demand for Octroi-paid material.

“We have made several requests to vendors and distributors to only supply Octroi-paid goods in Pune. While many have understood our problem and complied with our request, several vendors are still supplying non-Octroi-paid material. Hence, beginning August, our members will boycott all vendors and distributors that are still not complying with our request,” said Shashikant Satbhai, President, CMDA, Pune.

He also added that TAIT and VCMDWA have expressed their keenness to support CMDA in tryst to make all vendors supply Octroi-paid material. “TAIT and VCMDWA both have told us that they will jointly work with us to address the issue. We have also sent e-mails to other associations requesting their support for the cause and are confident that they too will support us as the Octroi issue affects most large cities in Maharashtra. We will jointly work with all the supporting association and come up with an action plan to ensure that all vendors comply with Octro-paid material,” added Satbhai.

“VCMDWA shall support CMDA in ensuring that vendors bill Octroi-paid material in all Octroi zones. This is the only way to put everyone at part on the Octroi front. This will save us from explaining to the customers that competition is doing unfair trade practice. It has given a bad name to the IT Industry as a whole,” said Reeta Budhay, Secretary, VCMDWA.
