The city police did not know what to make of a woman who got her husband arrested complaining of being beaten up and harassed only to arrange for his bail the next day.
Jairpatka police received a complaint from victim Mira Parate (22), a resident of Sugat Nagar, against her husband Badiram Parate on Sunday night. The victim, in her complaint, had said that her husband had tied her hands and legs, choked her mouth with a cloth and bashed her up with a stick.
"Considering the woman's pitiable condition, woman constables took her for treatment late in the night. Some cops were sent to the victim's residence to arrest her husband immediately," informed a cop.
Based on the victim's statement, offence of wrongful confinement and causing hurt were registered against Badiram. Accordingly, Badiram was put behind bars. However, the police got a shock of their life when Mira returned early on Monday morning pleading with them to set her husband free.
When the police refused to do so, she enquired about the bail procedure. "It is surprising how the woman, not from a well-to-do family, could arrange for a lawyer and ensure bail for her husband," the constable wondered. Mira, finally, got her husband out of the lock up by Monday evening.
