'Allow us to recover school expenditure from students'

In what could bring some bad news for students and parents, over 15 school managements have moved the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court on Monday seeking directions to the Maharashtra government for either releasing their non-salary grants pending since years or allow them to recover the same from the children.

The petitioners under the aegis of Aided School Managements Association have filed a civil application praying for the intervention by the judiciary to address their grievances. According to them, the government failed to release their grants since last eight years which comes to the tune of Rs 54 crore.

Since then, they have to incur all the expenses like electricity, water and telephone bills, various taxes of the corporation and maintenance of building from their own pockets. Now, they're on the verge of bankruptcy and therefore they've no choice than to knock the court doors.
