Man held for burgling neighbour's house

Crime branch recently arrested a man for tipping off his friends to burgle his neighbour's residence. Accused Ferozekhan Bismillah Khan had found the house key which his neighbour Shriniwas Konishetty had forgotten at the apartment's parking space before going out of station. Police recently nabbed Khan along with his friends and recovered the stolen valuables.

Konishetty and Khan stay in the same building at Mankapur. Konishetty's ground floor apartment was burgled in February when he had gone out station. He had reported the matter to Koradi police station. It was the crime branch sleuths who had received an input about the four accused from a trader who had noticed these people trying to sell stolen gold and silver. Police arrested Rahul Chiwande, Ferozekhan Bismillah Khan, Ahmed Ali, alias Kalu and Mohammed Atiq recently. The four drove auto-rickshaw for livelihood before turning to burglary.

A reliable source from crime branch said that Feroze had previous records of offences but they were around couple of years back. "The men had sold off the valuables for Rs 40,000. They have confessed to have shared the cash each taking Rs 10,000," said the officer. The crime branch has recovered valuables worth more than Rs 1.20 lakhs from different places where they were being disposed off.

Police said that the men are being grilled to whether they were trying to conceal more thefts in city. The four would remain in police custody till May 24.
