Gittikhadan police arrested three juvenile delinquents and one adult on Tuesday morning for stealing aluminium sheets worth Rs 56,550.
During patrolling in the early hours of Tuesday, police found two boys suspiciously loading a rickshaw with some aluminium sheets. What raised a doubt in the minds of the patrolling policemen was that an aluminium sheet factory was located near the spot where the boys were loading the rickshaw.
Policemen surreptitiously followed the boys to find out if any illegal activity was underway. They discovered that these sheets had been stolen from the aluminium company, which makes these aluminium sheets.
The two boys spotted by the cops were accompanied by two others, who were accomplices in the crime. The cops later found that three of them were minors. The police took the three juveniles and the adult, identified as Wasim, and interrogated them.
During interrogation, the four revealed that they worked for one 'Kalu kabadiwala', who had reportedly instigated them to commit the crime. They confessed that they had sneaked through an open window of the factory and stolen the aluminium sheets, whose net weight was calculated to be around 290 kilos.
After stealing the sheets from the company, they were going to sell them to Kalu. The mastermind Kalu was the one who had provided them the rickshaw to commit the crime. On seizing the aluminium sheets from them, police verified that they belonged to the owner of the company Dyaneshwar Hiwshe, who affirmed that the sheets were indeed from his factory. Hiwshe suspects that these accused were also involved in similar thefts of aluminium sheets from the company in April.
None of the three juveniles have a proper education and work as labourers. Using this weakness, the mastermind Kalu had persuaded the minors to commit the crime for a little money. Police have also arrested Kalu Kabadiwala under section 401 of planning the crime. Further investigations are underway.
