NAGPUR :- NIT notice to Buty Palace owner

Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has asked the owner of Buty Palace, a commercial complex on Abhyankar Road, to vacate it as he had failed to pay outstanding dues of Rs 56 lakh. NIT has given the owner 90 days to pay.

NIT Chairman Sanjay Mukherjee said that NIT had leased out 4,000 sq m land to Subhash Buty in Sitabuldi. When Buty did not pay lease amount, NIT issued several notices to him. Buty was given more time to pay the dues but failed to do so. If the owner does not now pay, the property might be attached.

He further said that NIT had earlier decided that any agreement to sale registered in Gunthewari area prior to 2001 would have to be verified by collector of stamp duty. However, as that office had told NIT it was not possible for them to do the job. NIT had withdrawn this condition.

The NIT board on Friday discussed the metro region planning. The civic agency had decided to give permissions to builders or developers who want to develop public utility land. "They would have to ensure that the lands will be used only for community centres and not for commercial usage. We have also decided to hand over open spaces to municipal corporation. At present, NIT has over 700 open spaces. We would keep only around 34 with us," Mukherjee said.

He said that the NIT had recently issued similar notice to Shreeram Dharamshala situated in front of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The Dharamshala was started with a purpose to serve the relatives of poor patients coming to the hospital. Later, the owner started misusing it for commercial purposes, said the chairman.

The agency has also decided to build a public garden at Sawarkar Nagar, Ring Road, through Public Private Partnership. It would be constructing flat schemes for higher and lower income groups in Mouzas Gadga and Chikhli. It also plans to develop gardens and entertainment centres in less developed areas like Manewada, Somalwada etc.
