CBI conducts searches at three places

Sleuths Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) anti-corruption wing based in Mumbai raided three places in Nagpur after a senior officer of railways was trapped at his office at Bhusawal on Thursday. Balwinder Singh Walia, an officer of Indian Railway Service cadre of 1995, was caught taking bribe of Rs 50,000.

Walia had been allegedly harassing a petty civil contractor for bribe in order to clear his bill amounting to Rs 6 lakh. The contractor had already completed the work of painting and was waiting for the bill to be approved. Walia's approval was required on bill.

CBI's team from Mumbai had been already camping in Bhusawal since Monday, it is learnt. Walia finally walked into the trap on Thursday. CBI sleuths have seized the bribe amount. During searches, the CBI team is learnt to have seized several incriminating materials from officer's office.
