NAGPUR: Anyone who passed through RBI Square in the last two weeks had got used to the huge crowd there to cheer Team Anna. However, on Monday, passersby noticed a dismantled stage where members of India Against Corruption (IAC) had sat on an indefinite hunger strike.
Though the IAC had booked the spot until September 4, it decided to cancel events at RBI Square after consultation with Team Anna in Delhi. Speaking to TOI, IAC coordinator Ajay Sanghi, said, "Earlier, it had been decided that after breaking the fast, the dharna would continue. Last night, we spoke with our counterparts in Delhi, and it was resolved that we should not continue to sit there. The idea is now to spread the movement outwards."
Earlier in the day, the IAC took part in a 'marbat' rally where thousands of supporters joined in. A 'badgya' symbolizing corruption was part of the procession. Pratik Chavhan, a participant, said, "It was an interesting concept for sure. Corruption is one thing which affects everyone and hence the anger vented at the procession towards the 'badgya' really came from the heart. I had visited RBI Square as well and the same positive vibes resonated during today's procession."
