11 th ADMITION :- Chaos as Class XI admissions kick off

The form distribution for the Centralized Admission Process ( CAP) for Class XI admissions in state board schools and junior colleges began on Thursday in the city but at some centres it resulted in chaos. Parents and students complained there were not enough forms at some centres while at others distribution started late.

Applicants who arrived by afternoon at Hadas high school and St Ursula's were told that forms had been sold out. Arun Dhole, a parent who visited St Ursula and Tidke Vidyalaya, said "I have come for my daughter's admission but her SSC results are yet to be declared. The board officials are not at all bothered and are not taking the admission process seriously. There is a shortage of forms everywhere."

A student who did not wish to be named said "At Ambedkar college, we were told that forms will be sold only after 3 pm when the counter closes at 4 pm. Even after coming at 3pm we did not get the forms." Another student from the state board at Ambedkar college said, "The security guard told us to come on Friday as the forms were sold out. We were told to go and check out other colleges."

The panic and confusion was also caused by the changed schedule of SSC result and marksheet distribution. The SSC results will now be declared on Friday and marksheets distributed only on June 27. The Centralized Admission Committee (CAC) had kept the last date of submission as June 27 itself.

"No on here knows what is going on. Collecting form was one thing, but what about submission? These people don't have the details. For submitting my application I need some documents that will be available only on June 27 after 3 pm. Within an hour the counter for admissions will close. It is not possible to do this," said another student. Actually CAC has extended the submission date to July 2 but most students seemed unaware of this.

Rachna Singh, principal of St Ursula high school, said, "We had 200 forms with us as per norms and they were all sold out. The policy is that once 200 forms are sold, we can call for more which we get within an hour. I would appeal to parents that they need not panic as forms will be available for quite a few days. Today was just the first day."

The working president of CAC Dr. Baban Taywade said approximately 2,300 forms were sold on the first day. When questioned about the chaos and shortage at some centres, he said, "I believe it happened at only some places. It is the first day and because of changed SSC result schedule there was confusion."
