NMC NAGPUR :- NMC snaps water connections of 12 defaulters

Nagpur Environmental Services Limited (NESL), a company formed by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to administer water supply, has cracked the whip against water tax defaulters and snapped water connections of 12 defaulters including a few government offices on Friday.

NESL executive director Shashikant Hastak said that water connections of divisional officer, NIT at Thapar Layout, (dues of Rs 1,47,334), President, Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh (Rs 2,51,743), K B Bhivapurkar, Ramdaspeth (Rs 57,823), assistant engineer CPWD, Quarter No 255 (Rs 1,13,772), AE CPWD Quarter No 69 (Rs 25,603), Prem Singh Karamchand (Rs 52,719), Madhuri Dalvekar (Rs 23,307) Gurumit Singh Vij (1,62,713), M R Agrawal, Itwari (Rs 70,448), Miraco Private Limited (Rs 1,03,873) and Aman Plaza, Sanyal Nagar (Rs 55,256) were snapped on Friday.

The NMC budget gives NESL a recovery target of Rs 140 crore for 2011-12. Along with regular bill recovery, NESL has to recover almost Rs 50 crore arrears from over 15,000 defaulters. "These defaulters have already been sent notices," Hastak said.
